Outdoor Movie Night
Our PTO sponsored an Outdoor Movie tonight! Families gathered with blankets and chairs to watch Home together in the school's back lot. Food, drinks and other snacks were available for purchase as families enjoyed an end of summer movie outside together. This is the first event we have done like this. Please let us know if you would like to do another movie in the spring by voting in the poll at the top of this post.
Career Fair
This week our school celebrated College GO Week. We partnered with our sixth grade students at Bon Air Career School and they hosted a Career Fair for our students in grades 3-5.
Our third, fourth, and fifth graders visited various "booths" to learn about 25 different career paths. They asked questions about skills needed, salary, and job descriptions to our sixth graders to help narrow down their career search. After leaving the fair each student selected one career as their favorite career aspiration. Using Achieve 3000's online software they will track their reading level the rest of the year to see how close they can get to the level needed to get a job in that particular field.

Pirate Week
AHOY YOUNG MATEYS!! We have been celebrating Pirate Week this week in honor of National Talk Like A Pirate Day on September 19th. Our first graders celebrated by making Pirate Hats in art class. Our speech teachers read books about pirates and practiced their RRRRR sounds. Watch out, tomorrow the teachers have some tricks up their sleeves. Shiver me timbers, we hope no students will have to walk the plank! YO HO HO!
